Tadalafil (When Used as A Needed Booster)
Tadalafil addresses problems with erectile dysfunction or impotence when used in combination with sexual stimulation. It can be used as a daily treatment, or as needed.
With Tadalafil, you have two options: first, only take it when needed; and second, take it on a daily basis. When taking Tadalafil as needed (only when you want to engage in sexual activity), you will be prescribed with a higher dose of treatment (usually, 10mg).
However, some men, won’t have problems taking a lower (5mg) or higher (20mg) dose of Tadalafil. It’s up to what your doctor prescribes, depending on your unique needs and condition.
Refer to this treatment plan when using Tadalafil as a needed boost. It includes notes on how the treatment works, how effective it is, and how safe it is to use for enhancing erection.
Tadalafil (When Used Daily)
Tadalafil can be taken daily. When taken daily, Tadalafil treatment has beneficial results for those with erectile dysfunction problems. The typical daily dose is 5mg, but your doctor may prescribe a lower dosage of 2.5mg, if you are experiencing side effects or have other problems with the treatment.
Daily tadalafil treatment may be taken in the mornings or evenings, but it’s best to take it within the same time or hour each day.
Please make sure to read this treatment guide as well as the manufacturer’s insert that comes along with the medicine. If you get prescribed with tadalafil as treatment, the manufacturer’s insert will serve as complete reference and contain the full information including interactions, side effects, and other relevant details of the medicine.
How tadalafil works
Tadalafil is considered a phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitor, a classification of medication that enhances sexual activity by increasing blood flow to the penis. It works by blocking an enzyme (phosphodiesterase-5) that interferes with erection, so one can continue experiencing sex as it should be.

Tips for tadalafil use
How to get the most out of your prescription medication for Erectile Dysfunction:
1Timing matters
Tadalafil’s effect on you depends entirely on your blood level during a sexual activity. Safe to say, it may have varied effects on different people. Blood levels could change over time and understanding that is critical for enhancing your sexual performance.
Tadalafil (when used as needed) begins to work after 30 minutes and supports sexual activity for 2 hours up to 6 hours after intake. Its effect on erection quality may take up to 36 hours (refer below).
2Consider a practice run before primetime
We recommend initially using Tadalafil within a less pressured environment (e.g. masturbation), as that could help you to feel relaxed and understand its effects on your body (before an actual sexual activity that may involve another person), and also whether or not you should consider adjusting it for an better experience during primetime.
3Give it a few chances and don’t rush to conclusions
The effect of tadalafil on you may come gradually. It takes some time for your body to acclimate to the treatment. Not rushing to conclusions whether it works or not will be advised. Other factors may also affect sexual performance. These include alcohol consumption, anxiety, fatigue, and overall arousal – even after taking the medication to enhance sexual performance.
Inform your healthcare providers
Healthcare providers must be informed that you’re taking tadalafil, if necessary. When needing emergency medical care for a heart condition, for example, take note of when you last took tadalafil and let your healthcare provider know about this necessary and accurate information.
Alcohol
Taking tadalafil with alcohol is OK, but only in a limited quantity. Drinking more than 2-3 glasses of alcohol (e.g. wine, beers, hard liquor) can result in fast heart rate, dizziness, headache, and low blood pressure. Alcohol could also inhibit erection.
Side Effects
Most common
Drinking tadalafil does come with common and mild side effects such as indigestion, headache, muscle ache, back pain, flushing, and stuffy/runny nose. These aren’t typically erious and can be expected to disappear within a few hours. Back pains and muscle aches can be felt within 12 to 24 hours after tadalafil intake, and they could go away after 2 days.
Rare but serious side effects
1When erection doesn’t go away (Priapism)
An erection that lasts for more than 4 hours is not considered normal. It is a medical emergency and a condition known as priapism. You are advised to seek medical attention right away, in rare cases this happens. Delaying treatment can put the penis at risk of permanent damage.
2Sudden loss of vision
Tadalafil should not cause a loss of vision. If you experience a sudden loss of vision in either one or both eyes, it is considered a serious eye problem known as non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION). In the rare occurrence of NAION, it is uncertain it PDE5 inhibitors cause it. Stop taking tadalafil immediately and contact your healthcare provider, should this happen.
3Sudden loss or decrease in hearing
In rare but possible occurrences, some men could feel a ringing in their ears (tinnitus) or experience dizziness. Stop taking tadalafil immediately and contact your healthcare provider, should this happen.
4Other serious side effects that have been reported with past use
It is uncertain if other reported issues after tadalafil use is caused by tadalafil directly, but serious medical events have been reported such as: heart attack, stroke, seizures, irregular heart beat, and death.
